Metal Frame Purse, very easy
Triangular shape
Step 1 - Pattern
Draw two perpendicular lines, then
place your purse frame so that the clasp is centred on the vertical line, and the bottom of the clasp on the horizontal line.
Draw around the outer perimeter
following the frame shape (on the right half of the paper). Add 2.5 cm at the bottom of the frame and draw a line from this point toward the rounded part of the frame.
Measure the distance (a) from the top corner of the purse frame to its hinge.
Transfer this amount to your pattern (red mark).
Extend this line, add a vertical line for the purse height.
fold the sheet along the horizontal line (height of the bag) and the vertical line (middle), and then, cut it. You can add the seam allowance before cutting the sheet or add it later.
Step 2 - Lining
Cut the lining, add a seam allowance if necessary and
sew between the red marks, keep an area open on one side.
Flatten the bottom corners, then mark a line 2,5cm in from each corner. Sew along the line. Clip off the corners.
Step 3 - Outside
For this tutorial, I use a soft leather. If your sewing machine can't sew leather, use fabric instead.
Cut the leather, add a seam allowance if necessary and apply an interfacing.
Sew between the red marks. Flatten the bottom corners, then mark a line 2,5cm in from each corner. Sew along the line. Clip off the corners.
Step 4 - Sew together the outside and the lining
With the outside bag right side out and the lining wrong side out, slip the exterior bag inside the lining so the two bags are now right sides together. Sew. Pull the bag right side out through the opening.
Optional step : add a ribbon with clasp inside the bag
This plastic buckle will be used to hold a coin purse.
Cut a piece of leather (or use a bias) as shown in the picture. Add glue (or sew if you use a bias).
Sew the opening in the lining (add the ribbon from the previous step, as shown in the picture)
Step 5 - Inserting the bag into the frame
Find the center of the purse and match this to the center of your frame. Sewing by hand.
Add a handbag Chain.
